Free online mapping for schools to support geography teaching

A free online mapping and analysis platform is being offered to schools in order to support secondary schools in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Esri UK, a firm which supplies geographical system software, is offering the technology to schools for free as part of a new Free4Schools initiative.
The initiative supports the new curriculum requirement that all secondary schools use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) across their geography teaching.
The firm will be making the ArcGIS Online mapping platform available which can be used in the classroom, PC lab, in the field or at home.
The new programme will also support teachers with exam board focused resources, activities and training to enhance student learning.
Esri UK and the Royal Geographical Society will also unveil a new GeoMentors programme, where GIS professionals can mentor geography teachers to help them get the most out the Free4Schools initiative with their students.
