New software to improve recruitment in Catholic schools
EB News: 31/07/2024 - 09:33
The Catholic Education Service (CES) and Eteach, an education recruitment solutions company, have partnered to create a new way for Catholic schools to recruit teachers, improving outdated processes and supporting better teacher recruitment.
Traditionally, Catholic schools have relied on downloadable forms and documents that must be filled out by hand and uploaded separately.
To simplify the application process, Eteach has worked in collaboration with the CES to streamline the recruitment process.
The new technology means Catholic schools, which account for more than 50,000 teaching roles, are able to attract the "best available talent".
Mobile optimisation is key as in 2023, as 70 per cent of Eteach traffic came from a mobile device and the company has seen those who switch from a downloadable form to an online application form have a 150 per cent increase in applications submitted.
Key features of the new online application form include mobile optimisation, customised fields to capture essential information specific to Catholic school roles, integration of required supporting documents within the form, eliminating the need for separate uploads and fully translated into Welsh to accommodate schools in Welsh-speaking communities.
Paul Barber, director of the CES, said: “The CES has worked with Eteach to ensure that its application forms are suitable for use in Catholic schools. We are also delighted that Churchmarketplace has included Eteach in its procurement framework for Catholic schools, to help support teacher and support staff recruitment.”
Spending on educational support for children with high needs has risen sharply in recent years, creating unsustainable financial pressure on both local authorities and central government, new analysis warns.
The Always Active Uniform is a flexible, comfortable school uniform including active footwear, designed to support spontaneous movement and daily activity throughout the school day.
The Welsh Government has agreed to continue a licensing deal which will give all learners at Welsh state schools free access to Microsoft 365 at school and at home.
Schools will play a greater role in ensuring every pupil has a clear post-16 destination, with a new approach to a guaranteed college or FE provider place available as a safety net being tested.
