Webinar on digital phone switchover for schools
EB News: 03/04/2025 - 09:53
A free webinar has been announced by techUK to help schools and colleges better understand the UK transition away from analogue phone lines and the sunsetting of 2G and 3G services.
The Digital Phone Switchover happening now across the UK and subsequent switch off of the old analog phone service (the PSTN) as well as 2G and 3G sunsetting is a program offering both opportunities for digital transformation in the education space - but also can present challenges for the unprepared.
As well as phones, many connected devices such as CCTV, payment terminals, lift lines, and some fire and security systems may need to be checked for digital compatibility.
techUK's webinar on 28 April at 14:00 will enable viewers to learn more about the program and what it might mean for schools, universities and children’s services in both the private sector and those maintained by local authorities.
The Departments for Education and Science, Innovation and Technology will be joining communications companies Virgin Media O2, Openreach and BT to explain what’s happening and what it will mean for educational organisation.
The webinar will also include some case studies from those who have been through the switchover and can offer tips and guidance from the approach they took in making sure the move was a successful one.
