Covid absence falls to 1.5% after isolation rule change

The Department for Education has released its latest school attendance figures, which showed that 91.9% were attending school on 16 September.

COVID-related pupil absence in all state-funded schools was 1.5% on 16 September. In primary schools, the figure was 1.4% while in secondary schools, the figure was 1.6%.

0.7% of pupils were absent due to a confirmed case of COVID on 16 September,

Less than 0.1% of pupils in state-funded schools were absent on 16 September because their school was closed due to COVID-19 related reasons.

Now self isolation rules have changed, the overall proportion of Covid-related absences has fallen since the end of last term. On July 8, 14.3 per cent were absent due to Covid-related reasons, with more than 770,000 children isolating because of potential contact in school.
