Gavin Williamson will continue in the role of Education Secretary in the minor reshuffle that took place after the Conservatives won the majority in the recent election.
Williamson will continue in post until at least next February, when a wider cabinet reshuffle is anticipated.
He will continue to have overall responsibility for early years, teacher pay, school curriculum and improvement and academies.
Nick Gibb also remains as schools minister, with responsibility for admissions, school funding, teacher recruitment and retention, curriculum and qualifications, primary testing, school accountability, children’s mental health and behaviour.
A new survey by the British Council has revealed that more than two thirds (67%) of primary school age children say they would like to spend more time at school learning a language.
