No-notice Ofsted inspections on the table under Tories
Boris Johnson has said he will trial “no-notice” Ofsted inspections for schools if he is re-elected - a pledge that was not part of the Conservative manifesto.
Johnson has said he wanted to change the way inspections work, so they give a “true reflection” of how well schools are performing.
The prime minister said on ITV tonight: “The intention is to support teachers and what we want to see is increased funding for teachers, increased funding for teachers’ salaries, increased funding for schools.”
The prime minister is also reported as saying he will increase the length of inspections from two days to three, and will give an additional £10 million to Ofsted to fund the changes.
