Education secretary Justine Greening has announced that an extra £1.3 billion of funding will be poured into schools over the next two years.
Schools will benefit from the funds, as well as high-needs programmes. Greening has also stated that there are plans to introduce a national funding formula.
The money is expected to come from savings within the Department for Education (DfE) and will give schools “the investment they need to offer a world-class education to every single child”.
Greening said that the investment would bring funding for schools and high needs up from around £41 billion in 2017-18 to £42.4 billion in 2018-19 and £43.5billion in 2019-20.
