92 per cent of teacher trainees awarded QTS
92 per cent of students in initial teacher training (ITT) postgraduate courses were awarded qualified status (QTS) for the 2014/15 academic year, the highest proportion to date.
Of those who achieved QTS, 95 per cent were employed in a teaching post within six months of qualifying, up one percentage point from 2013/14.
The figures also show that 17,006 ITT trainees were eligible for a bursary, of which 91 per cent were awarded QTS.
There was also a large rise in trainees opting for school led routes, with the amount of trainees completing their teacher training through a school-led route increasing from 33 per cent in 2013/14 to 44 per cent in 2014/15.
Despite the rise in school-led training, University based courses were still the most popular route, wth 56 per cent of trainees opting for training at a higher education institution.
