The Department for Education has placed a job advert, looking for a senior policy adviser to support Nadhim Zahawi’s school reforms.
The job advert says that the role will be challenging and rewarding, and will work directly with the Secretary of State and Ministers.
It says: "This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of government on the development and delivery of the Government’s flagship education policies, focusing on schools."
Candidates need to have a strong understanding and knowledge of the schools sector, including, for example, funding, accountability and teaching practice, and a good understanding of the latest work in this field. This could be gained through a range of routes such as through teaching or leading within a schools setting, working within a partner organisation, or on relevant research.
The successful candidate would work on the development and delivery of the Government’s flagship education policies, focusing on schools and the school system, and help to shape advice on schools policy, "drawing on data and evidence and using your own knowledge and experience of the sector to ensure policy and delivery risks are appropriately considered".
The salary range is from £71,000, up to £100,000 for “outstanding candidates”.
