Small increase in COVID-19 outbreaks in schools
There were 12 confirmed coronavirus outbreaks from school settings last week, up from nine confirmed outbreaks the week before.
This is according to Public Health England’s weekly COVID-19 surveillance report on week 25 of the pandemic.
There were 24 outbreaks of 'acute respiratory conditions' in total in schools, but of those, 12 were confirmed as COVID-19.
The report says: "While care home outbreaks have continued to decline, an increase in school and ‘other settings’ outbreaks have been noted over the past few weeks. Community and syndromic indicators decreased or remained similar to the previous week."
