Nick Gibb has kept his position as Schools Minister following Prime Minister Theresa May’s Cabinet reshuffle.
It is notable that Gibb has kept his position in the Department for Education (DfE) despite backing Michael Gove in the leadership election, as former Education Secretary Nicky Morgan, who also backed Gove, was axed from the Cabinet.
Gibb confirmed the news via Twitter:
Delighted to be re-appointed to the DfE. Passionate about continuing the drive to improve academic standards in schools. #phonics

New Education Secretary Justine Greening has since tweeted that she is ‘looking forward’ to working with Gibb at the DfE:
V much looking forward to working in @educationgovuk with @NickGibbMP @halfon4harlowMP @JoJohnsonMP @edwardtimpson @cj_dinenage & Lord Nash
