Peter Kyle appointed as shadow schools minister

Peter Kyle has been appointed as the new shadow schools minister, taking over from Wes Streeting, who has been promoted to a new shadow cabinet-level role covering child poverty.
Kyle has been MP for Hove since 2015, and has served as shadow minister for victims and youth justice since last year.
A former special adviser to the Cabinet Office during Labour’s last spell in government, Kyle is also a former CEO of the Working for Youth charity and a former deputy chief executive at ACEVO, the organisation representing charity CEOs. He was chair of trustees at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy from 2011 until 2017.
Shadow education secretary Kate Green, shadow children’s minister Tulip Siddiq, shadow universities minister Matt Western and shadow skills minister Toby Perkins remain in post.
