APPG launches Excellence in School Food Awards

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on School Food has opened entries for its Excellence in School Food Awards 2023/24.

The awards celebrate those working within the school food sector. It is open for groups, including organisations, charities or catering teams who have used initiative to serve healthy food to children; an organisation, charity or catering team who have been able to work together to achieve positive outcomes on local communities and children.

It is also open for individuals who has shown commitment; someone whose ideas and innovation have changed things for the better; someone who has had a significant impact on local communities and children.

It is also open for schools - either an in-house catering team, head teacher, teacher(s) or support staff – who have come up with a creative initiative to serve healthy food to children within the school setting.

MP Sharon Hodgson, chair of the APPG on School Food and lead judge, said: “I am excited to read about the fantastic work being carried out across the country, especially given the difficult circumstances facing those involved in school food.

“Last year’s nominations were a tough lot to judge given the high standards and innovation on display, and I am certain this year will be no different. I look forward to meeting the finalists at the APSE Facilities Management Seminar 2024, good luck.”

Submissions close at 3pm on Monday 11 December 2023. They must follow the submission template and be accompanied by a letter from an MP. When complete (within the 500 word limit) all forms must be emailed to gbarton@apse.org.uk.
