LACA fairer school meals funding campaign update
A webinar hosted by LACA giving an update on its fairer school meals funding campaign has opened up to non-members in order to increase the reach of their mission.
LACA is campaigning to secure fairer free school meals funding, which they do not believe is enough to provide a substantial, balanced meal.
The webinar is set to take place on Wednesday 5th February at 14:30, in which chair Judith Gregory will update the attendees with LACA’s campaign for fairer school meals funding as well as their plans for 2025.
This is part of LACA’s wider campaign for school meals funding to deal with the increased cost of praises and of staff. LACA says that the current situation as unsustainable as many caterers, particularly those in small- and medium-sized companies, will find it challenging to continue operating, which will threaten thousands of jobs.
The school food people are calling for a minimum free school meal value in England of £3 per meal. This follows the government announcement that universal infant free school meals (UIFSM) funding will increase by just 5p per meal to £2.58, to which LACA said they were ‘extremely concerned for the future of the industry.’
The programme will also include a political update and impact on campaign, Bidfood lobbying activity, and a Q&A session to give LACA further direction and to discuss any ideas.
