Centre Forum rebranded as Education Policy Institute
Influential think tank Centre Forum has rebranded itself as the Education Policy Institute.
The Institute will now be dedicated to data-driven research and analysis, with the aim of shedding light in whether current policy is succeeding in delivering high quality education.
In a joint statement on the think tank’s website, executive chair David Laws and executive director Natalie Perera highlighted an ‘urgent need for objective, impartial and independent research that can influence and inform the education debate’, arguing that policy debate is too occupied with contradictory views, which can be based on ‘personal experience and political instinct rather than on robust evidence’.
The Institute has said that it will work to hold government and education providers to account for their performance, and help identify the key policies to improve educational outcomes for all.
Three new trustees were also announced - Sir Theodore Agnew, Sir Kevan Collins of the Education Endowment Foundation, and Baroness Sally Morgan - with Sir Paul Marshall remaining as the chair of trustees.
