The prime minister has outlined how one-to-one teaching will be taken further for pupils that need to catch up and those with “exceptional ability”, during his speech at the Conservatives’ virtual conference.
Boris Johnson said he wanted to “explore the value of one-to-one teaching”, which he said could be transformational.
The government has already launched the National Tutoring Programme, where schools can access subsidised tutoring for pupils who need to catch up after school closures.
Boris said: “We can all see the difficulties, but I believe such intensive teaching could be transformational and a massive reassurance to parents. It’s in crises like this that new approaches are born.”
A new survey by the British Council has revealed that more than two thirds (67%) of primary school age children say they would like to spend more time at school learning a language.
Forty-four per cent of education professionals are unfamiliar with the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, otherwise known as Martyn’s Law, according to new research.
