Increase in school catchment fraud in Edinburgh

Twenty four families, compared to six last year, have lost their school places after giving false information to get their children into the best schools.
Officials uncovered 13 catchment frauds at high schools with 11 at primaries.
In total the council's fraud team carried out 1,500 checks which included all potential S1 places at three of the city's most popular high schools.
A creative careers programme which aims to inspire young people to explore careers across the creative industries has reached 210,000 young people since 2023.
The government is inviting EdTech companies and AI labs to develop AI tutoring tools, in collaboration with teachers, to ensure they support classroom practice.
