Daniel Kebede has served as General Secretary of the National Education Union since 2023, having previously held the role of National President.

Earlier in his career, he worked as a NEU representative, supporting members through casework and negotiations, and began his professional journey as a primary school teacher. A prominent advocate for the profession, Daniel is focused on improving pay and reducing workload pressures for teachers.

He is also a vocal critic of forced academisation, which he describes as costly and disruptive. In his role, he represents the views and concerns of NEU members to government, seeking to influence policy and drive positive change.
