Funding to renovate Lisvane Old School in Cardiff

Lisvane Old School in north Cardiff has been awarded £100,000 from the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme which will be used to refurbish and extend the 106-year-old school, enabling them to replace a temporary building currently housing the library and meeting space.

Chairman of the Trustees for the Old School, David Jones, said: "Without this grant from the Welsh Government, our 11 years of planning to transform Lisvane Old School would have been put on hold for even longer. We’re now able to confidently commit to this long-awaited development starting in 2020.

"Lisvane Old School will become a modern, flexible and up-to-date centre - a hub for the community and particularly important as the local population is set to vastly expand in the coming years."

The Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme provides grants for organisations to buy and improve well-used community-run buildings and projects.
