Don’t overload staff with Ofsted preparatory work
Ofsted's Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman has urged schools not to overload teams with prepararoty work for Ofsted, or to conduct mock inspections, saying they are a waste of precious time.
Speaking at the Association of School and College Leaders Annual Conference 2022, Amanda said: "I have always been acutely aware of the workload and well-being of teachers and leaders. And that has been thrown into sharp relief by the pandemic. So please, don’t overload your teams with preparatory work “for Ofsted”. Just don’t do it. And don’t run ‘mocksteds’. They are a waste of precious time."
Amanda went on to say that ambitious leadership is about substance and integrity and doing the right thing for children and learners, and that if schools do that, it will be seen.
"You really don’t need to do anything extra on our account," Amanda added.
