ClusterScale was born out of Loadbalancer.org on January 1st 2008. Loadbalancer.org was the product of an engineer “scratching an itch”. Malcolm Turnbull was looking into improving the availability for the UK’s largest online garden centre Crocus.co.uk. Instead of making an expensive purchase he chose to make his own clustered pair of load balancers on commodity hardware running an open source software stack. This was then made into a commercial product and sold as an appliance.
Loadbalancer.org is holding its ground against a large number of new competitors and has a good reputation for being honest with no nonsense and easy to use high performance products. ClusterScale has raised the bar within the load balancing market with ClusterLoad, the first 64 bit load balancer, set on Dell hardware providing performance to match the best, at a price point that provides a great Return on Investment (RoI).
The company launched in January and in that short time has expanded its product line to include a virtual appliance, ClusterLoad ESX VA, and the new ClusterMirror database replication appliance, which is a first for the market. Constantly innovating, ClusterScale is a technology-driven organisation, providing high-availability cost-effective solutions to ensure continuous top performance for its customers networks and databases.
Core values ClusterScale believes that networks and applications should work, simply and effectively. To this end, all ClusterScale products are built on the following key principles:
