Cadbury
Cadbury Dairy Milk was the first major confectionery brand to achieve Fairtrade certification.

ImageFairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk has been on shelf in the UK and Ireland since July 2009, and the entire hot beverages range in the UK and Ireland will be Fairtrade by the end of 2010. Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk will be on shelf in Australia, New Zealand and Japan by Easter 2010 and in Canada shortly after that. In total, 350 million Cadbury Dairy Milk bars will carry the FAIRTRADE MARK each year around the world. The move has quadrupled the amount of Fairtrade cocoa coming out of Ghana, compared with 2008, and will benefit more than 40,000 farmers.

The Fairtrade announcement last year marked the first anniversary of the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership (CCP), a historic initiative in which Cadbury is investing £45 million over the next ten years to secure the sustainable socio-economic future of cocoa farming in Ghana, India, Indonesia and the Caribbean where the cocoa farming industry is facing increasing challenges.

In February, almost one year since Cadbury Dairy Milk (CDM) became Fairtrade certified in the UK and Ireland, Cadbury and the Fairtrade Foundation announced that Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons will also carry the Fairtrade logo.  The move marked the next big step for the confectioner in extending its commitment to Fairtrade, following its groundbreaking certification for the nation’s best selling chocolate bar, Cadbury Dairy Milk last year.
