Education Business

EB Awards 2009 Winners announced
The 2009 Education Business Awards recognised the outstanding achievements of primary and secondary schools.

Held at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on 19th November, the Education Business Awards, sponsored by Sony, presented 16 schools with awards for their progress in transforming education in primary and secondary schools. BBC Newsreader Bill Turnbull presented the ceremony, which saw three special awards presented to schools in the Academies programme.

The Education Business Award for Outstanding Progress went to Castleford High School & Technology College, which embarked upon sustained campaign of improvement. Both the management of resources and value for money achieved are rated as excellent, and Castleford is one of the most improved schools in the country.

David Devoto, Chairman of PSE Events said: "This year, we have seen the 200th school to open under the academies programme, with many more in the pipeline. Congratulations to the hard work of the sponsors, local authorities and contractors involved in these projects. But new buildings and new equipment are nothing without the dedication, commitment and hard work of the educators. All the winners and shortlisted schools should be proud of their achievements."

The 2010 Education Business Awards will be open for entry from January 2010.
